The Most Wonderful Time of Year

I know that for most people Christmas season starts the day after Thanksgiving. And that’s cool I guess but for me it starts when the month of December begins…TODAY! So in honor of this day here’s a little Christmas time questionnaire:

jgvEgg Nog or Hot Chocolate? I already don’t like this…I guess I’ll go wit egg nog because hot chocolate I can get anytime but egg nog is seasonal

Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? Depends on the present but most of them get wrapped in his special Santa paper

Colored lights on tree/house or white? I like the white ones

Do you hang mistletoe? Never have

When do you put your decorations up? Whenever we get around to it

What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? Nana’s Christmas Morning French Toast Caserole

Favorite Holiday memory as a child: I have already told this story…it’s long and an be found here

How and When did you learn the truth about Santa? If you don’t believe you don’t receive

Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? Yup!

How do you decorate your Christmas Tree? Like most other people I would guess…

Snow! Love it or Dread it? I love it as it falls. I also loved how it looks when it has gone completely untouched

Can you ice skate? Not very well

What's the most important thing about the holidays for you? Family

What is your favorite holiday dessert? this is a mean question…I love them all and always eat a little bit of everything

What tops your tree? In my apartment, a scarecrow. At home an angel.

Which do you prefer giving or receiving? I do not prefer. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t like gifts. But I also love giving them and the anticipation as someone opens their gift from you.

What is your favorite Christmas movie? Elf…and I love It’s A Wonderful Life

What is your favorite Christmas song? “Mary Did You Know?” and Celine Dion’s entire These Are Special Times album

What is your favorite Christmas story? The Birth of Christ

my weekend

this weekend was a fabulous onedate friday night i went out for some thai food {yummy-it’s my favorite} and then danced the night away with this lovely bunch. and it snowed-i was reminded of how much i love the sound {or lack of it} of falling snow. jhghjv  saturday i went to the dinosaur museum up at thanksgiving point. i really enjoyed this activity because it provided ample opportunities for me to act like a child…freeing my inner 5 year old is one of my favorite things.IMG_3607-1-1 sunday was full of two of my favorite things: food and friends. my roommates and i threw a little pre-thanksgiving get together with some of our pals. it’s amazing how many people we can fit in our little broom-cupboard apartment.

Awkward and Awesome

fairy tale

Awkward:

  • Me taking out the trash and attempting to hurl it into the dumpster. The dumpster is pretty tall and I am pretty short. My arm isn’t capable of holding the lid open very much and my other arm isn’t really strong enough to lift the bag high enough to toss it in {especially when said bag is fully of surprisingly heavy rotten pumpkins}.
  • Walking into my apartment to find a man wearing no shirt sitting in my kitchen getting his “wig” cut by my roommate.
  • Sitting next to Rico Suave in class as he tries oh SO unsuccessfully to ask a girl to go on a date with him. “So if you’re into that kind of thing you should come with me on Friday night.” “Uhh, sounds fun but I’m super busy.” “Oh really, what cha got going on?” “Uhhh…homework and stuff.” Sucks to be him :/
  • Getting punched in the face by your roommate…over a boy.
  • Me when I have to pose in front of a camera. I wore a maxi dress to campus on day and this random girl came up and asked if she could take a picture of me for her fashion blog {awesome}. Sure thing! Now just umm…well…how do you want me to stand? What face should I make? Hmm…maybe this wasn’t the best idea.
  • Watching a movie in the apartment of people whose names you don’t even know…while none of them are home.
  • Falling down stairs. In church. Wearing a skirt. Landing in a split that spans about 4 steps. In front of a cute boy. Get the picture?

Awesome:

  • Just food in general. Cafe Rio. California Pizza Kitchen. Shredded Wheat Cereal. Blueberry pancakes. It’s all so beautiful.
  • It’s sweater season! And November has been oh so kind-I’ve been able to go to school without wearing a real coat. It’s lovely.
  • Volunteering at the food bank and getting a little non-profit experience.
  • Emily’s new, fancy Hans Christian Andersen The Complete Fairy Tales book. And the fact that our friend comes over and reads us stories from it {see above picture}.
  • I’ve rediscovered my love for reading novels. Especially those of the Young Adult variety. In fact, I have spent one night of my last two weekend in Barnes&Noble. Even the smell of books makes me excited.
