{warning: I am about to join thousands of others and talk about that Hunger Games movie} I confess. I was totally one of those crazy people who went to the midnight showing of The Hunger Games last night and was tired all day today. But you know what…it was totally worth it. Seriously, the movie was amazing!
We all know the the movie is never as good as the book..but I went into to that theater with high hopes. I’d heard that most of the reviews were positive and that it was true to the book. Still, I was nervous-I feared I would be disappointed in the end.
I was not! The only thing that left me disappointed was that, unlike with the books, I couldn’t just pick the next one up and watch it right away. The two and a half hour film was everything I could have hoped for. The cast did remarkably well and were all very believable. Katniss was so BA {Jennifer Lawrence is beautiful}, Peeta was charming and adorable, Gale was the best friend of every girls’ dreams, Rue was just innocent enough, the list goes on; I was most amazed by Stanley Tucci’s portrayal of Caesar Flickerman-absolutely perfect.
The whole movie was very raw and the emotion was real. I found myself totally engaged in the film just as I was when reading the book. The scenes I could not wait to see and those I had forgotten about completely captivated me. Even though I knew what was going to happen I was on the edge of my seat. Well done, Gary Ross. Well done.
I do have one complaint. Giddy teenage girls who “awwed” during every Katniss-Peeta scene and “oooed” whenever Gale’s pretty little face was shown. I wanted to throw my shoe at each one of them. Unfortunately I only had two shoes.
But like I said fantastic movie. I can not wait to see it again..and again…and again. Bring on Catching Fire.
{P.S. This is my 100th post. I felt The Hunger Games was more than worthy of being the subject of such a milestone}
