Awkward and Awesome

Awkward:

  • Mom came and visited for Thanksgiving week {see awesome section for more details} and I’m pretty sure one of my Mom’s favorite things to do is embarrass me. Luckily I’m used to it…my roommates and friends however are not. So when Mom preceded to ask two of my closest friend when they were going to go on a date and they wouldn’t look at each other for a good 10 minutes afterwards it was pretty great.
  • Couples who think that the library is a great place to get their cuddle on. Oh no feel free to sit on his lap and hold hands and nuzzle each others necks, I’ll just sit here and study.
  • Coming home to an dark empty apartment on a Friday night…that’s never happened to me before. It's actually kinda sad.
  • Being sick. Mostly it’s just awful. Except when I can’t breathe, or carry on a conversation without sniffling then it’s awkward.
  • Splitting the beam in gymnastics…during a simple straight body jump. For those of you who don’t know what splitting the beam is I will explain…picture a gymnast on the beam, she missteps and instead of her whole body falling off one side, one leg goes to one side the other leg goes to the opposite side and as she falls the beam catches her and her lady-parts crash into the hard, wooden apparatus. Ouch right? Yeah, I did that. But to make this better when I went to hop up onto a different beam to watch the next girl go, I jumped up backwards, missed the beam completely and fell right over the other side. Great way to start the day.

Awesome:

  • Mom came to visit for Thanksgiving. It was amazing, just what I needed. We did lots of fun stuff like shopping and eating and visiting friends and curling up in my twin size bed together and watching movies. Plus, all my friends got to see how pretty she is :)
  • Christmas Caroling at a retirement center. I was feeling super overloaded with homework and didn’t want to go to FHE and stand out in the cold singing. I’m really happy I went though. I think the highlight was we singing and this little woman opened her door and then threw her hand over her mouth in surprise, adorable.
  • Conversations with people. Good long deep conversations about life. Short silly conversations about nothing in-particular. And everything in between. I just love being able to trade thought with people.
  • Done with classes for the semester-just gotta get through finals and I’m home free!
  • Speaking of home…round trip plane ticket home for wicked cheap, out of the Provo airport, with two bags. Whoop whoop!
  • Christmas movies!
