I’m sure you all know what kickball is…that game kinda like baseball that you played back in elementary school. You either loved it or hated it. Yeah, ringing some bells?!
Well my family would fall into the love category and every year {on one family holiday or another} we play. I promise you it’s a ton of fun…well as long as you and yours meet the following criteria. You will need:
1. A terrible strategy for picking “fair” teams…we chose counting off “1…2…1…2…” 1’s go here 2’s go there-get the picture? This resulted in one team being made up of 2 adults and 4 children under 13-and the other of 5 adults, 1 teenager and 1 child. So not fair teams.
2. You have to have your grandparents play. This is of upmost importance. If possible work it so grandma and grandpa are on separate teams.
3. You need someone who plays the game as if his team is the Red Sox and they are playing in the World Series. It’s really entertaining…especially if his team members don’t fully understand the importance of this BIG game.
4. It’s awesome to have someone who is hungover playing. They’re depth perception just doesn’t quite cut it and their head isn’t completely in the game.
5. A player under the age of 3 {it’s best to put them on MVP #3’s team so they don’t get pegged in the head or something}. Cute points-yes. Home runs-not so much.
6. Someone has to walk away grumpy because the game did quite go how they wanted…but really would it be a family activity if that didn’t happen ;)
7. Spectators. These are the wimps who refuse to play but have no problem commenting and laughing at the participants.
8. Remember that it’s just a game…with your family…so really it means nothing {except for the memories that are made}. Just have fun {which for my family also means make fun}. This is especially important for the superstar and the cry-baby to take note of.
