I keep coming back to this song…I’ve always loved it, but lately it’s taken on new meaning
Change is a scary thing-I think most people are afraid of it, at least a little bit. But it’s also inevitable. Things change all the time. Yet whenever change comes along most of us want to run away…I know I do.
But the truth is my whole life had been about change. Things changed when I decided I wanted to be homeschooled and then again when after being in private and homeschooling for 6 years I decided to go to public school. Things changed when suddenly my best friend didn’t want to be my best friend anymore.Things changed when I choose to join the LDS church. Things changed when I made the decision to go to a university where I didn’t know anyone, 2000 miles away from home.
Life is all about change. Sometimes we choose change and sometimes it chooses us. Either way it’s terrifying because it’s unfamiliar. We’re creatures of habit and then change happens;suddenly what we’ve grown so accustomed to is being taken away. Yet somehow change is familiar.
I feel change coming. I’m excited about it and terrified at the same time. But for now I think I’m going to let the excitement win and welcome Change like an old friend.
