A Family that Shoots Together Stays Together

I should introduce this post with a story from my childhood. When I was a young child all I wanted to do was shoot a gun. I begged my Daddy to take me shooting with him-because I begged him to let me do most things with him -  he and Pop-Pop brought me to the range. I heard one shot go off, ran away and have been afraid to shoot ever since. I should also tell you that my father is a State Trooper, and my grandfather is a retired police sniper and they like guns.

Today we did some shooting. I walk in the house to help carry the guns and Pop-Pop hands me a 12ga shot gun as long as my leg and says “This is the one you’re going to shoot” because apparently once I knew I could shoot that I wouldn’t be scared anymore.IMG_3901 the recoil is brutal (LOVE the reaction in my face)IMG_3902 I don’t know how in the movies they always pump those things with one hand to eject the shells…way too heavy! After the shotgun we did a little pistol shooting. Check out my group…not bad for my first time ever, eh?IMG_3945Mom shooting her favorite “sexy gun” .38 revolver (just so you know, it belongs to my Nana-Mother’s day present a few years ago)IMG_3948  Here’s little miss fearless Amber and her Christmas present .22 rifleIMG_3919 Then we all had a little fun with the assault rifle. Pop-Pop has 5 clips that hold 30 rounds a piece for this rifle “so there’s no waiting”. We obliterated a rock…it was sweet!IMG_3950 IMG_3956IMG_3959IMG_3962   Yeah…it was a pretty fantastic day.
